Pastor Amundson and the new building

My family and I had the privilege of spending the morning and afternoon with the church family and staff of High Street Baptist Church in Somerset today. Years ago, High Street Baptist Church was planted by the First Baptist Church of Somerset, and today is a thriving, growing church.

By the way, I was blessed to serve as pastor of FBC, Somerset, for more than four years (long after High Street Baptist Church was planted). FBC Somerset, currently under the leadership of Pastor French Harmon, is now 212 years old and has a long history of church planting and sacrificial Cooperative Program support.

Their daughter church, High Street Baptist, also has a strong record of CP support. In the midst of a building program, they are currently giving 10 percent through the CP. Remaining true to his Great Commision convictions, Pastor Ed Amundson (seen in the photo) is recommending an increase in that percentage for the 2012 budget!

Pray for my friend and brother, Ed, as he seeks to balance being a father of three beautfiul boys, a caring husband to his wife, Shannon, a student in pursuit of his second masters degree, the pastor of a growing church in the midst of a building program, and a man soon heading on a mission trip to a closed country! God bless you Pastor Ed!
