Please be in prayer for all of those affected by Hurricane Irene. Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief‘s status has been upgraded to “standby” by the American Red Cross and North American Mission Board.

Two kitchen units are on standby for possible deployment to New England (most likely Connecticut, Massachusetts or Rhode Island) in response to Hurricane Irene.

As of Sunday afternoon, Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief is continuing to standby for response to Hurricane Irene but the good news is that the units may not be needed. The storm dissipated as it moved further north and the initial reports from New England seem to indicate less impact than expected. A preliminary assessment on Monday will determine if our units are still going to be needed. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief units from Georgia, Ohio and Illinois are also on standby with Kentucky for possible response to New England if needed.

The KBC Disaster Relief feeding units have now been taken off of standby. Kentucky may still end up responding to flood clean-up in Vermont, however. Assessment is taking place now.
