Don’t Let Politicians Grant ‘Hunting Licenses’ to Casinos

Year after year, a small group of Kentucky politicians and casino operators push to expand gambling in Kentucky, promising that it will be an economic boon – and it will be…to the casino operators eager to cash in on the misery of our fellow Kentuckians.

We’ve prepared this brief video calling Kentucky Baptists to action. This video calls us all to action on behalf of those who will suffer the most for the sake of profit.

What can you do to help?

1. Share this video during a church prayer meeting or worship service, and/or share it via email, Facebook and Twitter. Post it on your church website or blog.

We’ve also prepared these bulletin inserts. Feel free to download, print and distribute.

2. Call the legislative message line at 800-372-7181 and leave a message with a secretary for your senator and representative. Tell them that you oppose all efforts to expand gambling in Kentucky, and you’d like to urge your lawmakers to do the same.

The legislative message line is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. EDT.

3. Follow the KBC Public Affairs Committee blog for updates throughout the legislative session.

I spent many years in Las Vagas performing and entertaining. I would watch many addicted to gambling with the mere hope to win, only to see their long faces as they lose, their paychecks, their social security, their life. It’s a joke in Vagas, you drive to in a Mercedes and leave in a limo. That is because you lost your Mercedes gambling and you are being taxied out in a Limo, some joke.

What are these legislators thinking or NOT!
